- Microsoft Intune Plan 1 Device: Microsoft's device-only Intune subscription for managing devices that aren't affiliated with a specific user — kiosks, dedicated/single-purpose devices, phone-room devices, IoT and other shared endpoints — from the same Intune console as the rest of your devices.
- Licensed per device, not per user: one licence covers one device regardless of how many people use it.
Before you buy
Per Microsoft, device licences apply only when the device is enrolled without user affinity — Windows Autopilot self-deploying mode, Apple Device Enrollment Program / Apple School Manager / Apple Configurator without user affinity, Android Enterprise dedicated devices, or a device enrollment manager account.
Limitations on device-licensed devices: Intune app protection policies, Conditional Access and user-based features (such as email and calendaring) are not supported. If named users sign in and need those features, license the users instead (Intune Plan 1 is included in Microsoft 365 E3/E5, EMS and Business Premium).
Buy one licence per qualifying device — Microsoft doesn't meter usage, so estimate your userless device count.
