Before you buy
Academic pricing requires that the purchasing organization's Microsoft tenant carry verified Education eligibility, confirmed through Microsoft's own eligibility review. Student-priced licenses are for assignment to students only. Covers identity, device and information protection only — no Office apps, Exchange or Windows licenses. Customers needing Entra ID P2, Defender for Identity or Defender for Cloud Apps need EMS A5 instead. Microsoft's catalog text still lists Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics, which reached end of support on January 13, 2026.
