What you get

• Customer Lockbox: puts you explicitly in the approval workflow for the very rare instances a Microsoft engineer needs access to customer content to resolve a support issue — nothing is accessible without your approval.
• Per Microsoft's own documentation, it currently supports access requests for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Windows 365, and all Microsoft 365 Copilot interactions are covered through the Exchange Online support path.

Before you buy

Customer Lockbox is already included at no extra cost with Microsoft 365 or Office 365 E5 (or G5 for government customers) — confirm you doesn't already have it before selling this add-on. For other base plans, it requires an Information Protection and Compliance or Advanced Compliance add-on subscription. It is off by default and must be turned on in the Microsoft 365 admin center (Settings > Org settings > Security & privacy) by a Global Administrator or a user with the Customer Lockbox Access Approver role.
