What you get

• Azure SQL Edge is an optimized relational database engine built on the SQL Server database engine, designed for IoT and IoT Edge deployments — it streams, processes, and analyzes relational and non-relational data (JSON, graph, time-series) at the edge, using the same Transact-SQL surface as SQL Server and Azure SQL.
• This is a 1-year, per-device software license, deployed either as a module through Azure IoT Edge (connected) or as a standalone container/Kubernetes deployment pulled from Docker Hub (disconnected).

Before you buy

Critical restriction confirmed directly on Microsoft's own documentation: Azure SQL Edge was retired by Microsoft as of September 30, 2025. Microsoft's product page explicitly states this retirement and points customers to its migration guidance. As of today this product has been retired for roughly a year — confirm with us whether this SKU can still be purchased or renewed at all before you buy, and consider recommending Microsoft's stated migration path instead.
