What you get

• Now branded by Microsoft as Microsoft Entra ID P2 (formerly Azure Active Directory Premium P2): a per-user identity and access management license that adds Microsoft's most advanced identity protection on top of the P1 feature set — including Microsoft Entra ID Protection (risk-based sign-in and user risk detection) and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) for just-in-time, time-bound admin role access — at Microsoft's academic student pricing tier.
• Includes everything in Microsoft Entra ID P1, such as the Microsoft Entra application proxy for publishing on-premises apps, which itself requires at least a P1 or P2 license.

Before you buy

Academic pricing requires that the purchasing organization's Microsoft tenant carry verified Education eligibility, confirmed through Microsoft's own eligibility review. Note that some governance-specific capabilities have moved out of P2 into a separate Microsoft Entra ID Governance add-on, which itself requires an active P1 or P2 subscription underneath it — confirm current feature scope on Microsoft's own Entra licensing documentation before you buy for governance use cases specifically.
