What you get
- Microsoft Agent 365, generally available since May 1, 2026 for the Commercial segment: a per-user license that extends Microsoft identity, security, and compliance controls (Entra, Defender, Purview) to AI agents operating in the tenant.
- Licensing is per user, not per agent — agents themselves don't need their own license; coverage is tied to the user who owns, sponsors, or manages the agent, so all of that user's agent activity (both delegated-access and own-access) is covered under one license.
Before you buy
Microsoft recommends licensing broadly: anyone who interacts with, owns, sponsors, or manages an Agent 365-registered agent, including Microsoft 365 Copilot users. Agent 365 works best with Microsoft 365 E5 as a prerequisite, and at least one user in the tenant must hold a qualifying Agent 365 license to enable the service; it is also included in Microsoft 365 E7. There are currently no consumption-based charges on top of the per-user license, though this is a newly launched product and terms may change — confirm current details with us before you buy.
